We’re down to the wire. The last day to be counted in the 2020 U.S. Census is October 5, 2020. Only a few days left. The minutes are ticking away! Spend a few of them to complete the form.
If you haven’t already done so, raise your hand and be counted! It will make a difference to our communities. Encourage your employees to be counted, while there’s still time.
Lots of folks ask, “Why?” As business people, our answer is easy. The census determines our representation in Congress! That representation shapes the policies by which we make and keep profitable revenue! It makes a difference to our customers’ communities. It makes a difference to our families.
Per the U.S. Census Bureau, “The Census has been a cornerstone of our democracy since the first national count in 1790. It is mandated by the Constitution and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, a nonpartisan government agency.” So, it is our opportunity – our responsibility to participate.
The 2020 ten question census form takes only a few minutes to complete and can also be completed over the phone at 844-330-2020.
I don’t work for the U.S. Census Bureau. I get no commission for this, my version of a PSA. My incentive is benefits from the BILLIONS of dollars that fund the infrastructure I depend on to keep my customers in business and my company running.
I could list the ways that an accurate count of each one of us in every building, block, neighborhood, town, city and farm determine the portion of our tax dollars that are returned to us over the next 10 years. The tax dollars that support our schools, hospitals, trains and buses, roads and bridges, hospitals and clinics. But the details of that funding are too numerous to maintain your focus unless you have depended on any of them for your life and growth in these United States.
The 2020 census count determines how billions of dollars of funding are allocated to local businesses – our businesses, and the infrastructure our employees depend upon to channel their unique talents and skills that fuel the U.S. economy. It matters to our future and that of our children. It just plain matters.
So, encourage all of those around you to be counted – TODAY. It’s safe. It’s easy. It’s secure, and in my mother’s words, “In unity, there is strength!”
